Kathmandu — assembling the team

Our team of seven climbers is assembled — a surprising mix of ages, personalities, origins and climbing experience. Yesterday was a chance to get out into the city, catch up with some climbing mates, and try the local beer (not great, but at 30°C+ outside it goes down without complaint).

Our team leader Balram delivered a briefing over dinner last night and concerned us all by referring to Cholo as 'a small mountain.' We are nonetheless very relieved to have his experience and intellect on the climb. Today we prepare our trekking kit and discover just how inadequate some of our gear may be.

As it turns out the main telecom carrier provides 3G in some unexpectedly remote places, so I can keep boring you with expedition notes and photos. Namaste.
